The Cusco Type MZ 1-Way Limited Slip Differential is engineered for precision street and time attack drivers who want maximum corner exit traction without excessive understeer or instability during braking. Unlike its 1.5-Way and 2-Way siblings, the 1-Way LSD only engages under acceleration, remaining passive during deceleration. This results in a smoother, more predictable turn-in and off-throttle behavior — making it ideal for front-wheel drive applications, FF-based AWD systems, or RWD cars seeking clean, stable trail braking.

What sets the Type MZ series apart from the RS series is its aggressive multi-plate clutch pack and higher initial torque capability. The MZ differential uses metal-to-metal contact to lock quickly and deliver a more mechanical, direct feel. Inside, twelve or more plates per side provide stronger locking force and immediate power transfer, especially under high-load or racing conditions. The 1-Way variant allows clean corner entries without rear-end interference while still launching hard on throttle.

The Cusco MZ series is also fully customizable. With adjustable initial torque, multiple cam angle options, and the ability to tune engagement characteristics, the 1-Way MZ LSD is well-suited for competitive drivers who want control over the differential’s behavior. Though more aggressive in feel than the RS line, the 1-Way design keeps it civil during braking and daily driving.

  • Locks only under acceleration for smooth, stable deceleration and turn-in
  • Ideal for time attack, autocross, and front-wheel-drive or front-biased AWD platforms
  • High initial torque with multi-plate metal-on-metal clutch pack
  • Direct, mechanical feel with rapid lockup under power
  • More aggressive than RS 1-Way while retaining off-throttle neutrality
  • Fully adjustable (initial torque, cam angles, clutch pack preload)
  • Rebuildable and race-proven in various competition environments
  • Best suited for drivers who want a predictable rear without braking lockup

When compared to the RS series or the MZ 1.5-Way and 2-Way versions, the Cusco Type MZ 1-Way strikes a unique balance: aggressive power transfer with stable corner entry behavior — a favorite for front-engine platforms needing maximum exit traction and minimal corner entry drama.
